About Us
Llewelyn & Company ~ Est 2004 now enjoying our 19th year in business at our beautiful Georgian, 3 storey shop in charming Hay-on-Wye. It all began during my childhood around two neighbouring old Welsh farmhouses, my own beautiful family period home and my grandparents’ Georgian dairy farm.
A natural influence from my Mother’s love for glowing Welsh antique furniture and country antiques, her flair and beautiful attention to detail. The draw of my grandmother’s dresser, filled with mesmerising fluted floral teacups. The Linen press - piled high with freshly pressed and folded linen.
A Welsh farmhouse kitchen with scrub top tables, painted legs and well worn chairs. It’s huge walk in pantry with dozens of enamelled pitchers, creamer bowls, kilner jars and baking tins. The beautiful orchard of apple and pear trees, sweet peas and my grandfather’s perfect vegetable garden with statuesque rows of kidney beans.
These memories, interlaced with exciting family explorations travelling through Europe, my brother and I. The traditional French, Italian and Scandinavian homes enticing my mother and I has evolved in creating ‘Llewelyn & Company ~ Decorative Living’. Every detail, every item, colour, texture and scent; every wonderful piece of mesmerising furniture’ and mysterious antique mirror is personally found and chosen by my husband, the children and me. A process we still relish and enjoy.
Our enjoyment is enhanced when we see the look of delight on our customers faces as they enter our shop.
By our nature, we’re creating homely nests for our families to enjoy. Providing them with a haven filled with the decorative things we love is deeply fulfilling, therefore come and join us in our beautiful store in the most charming of towns, Hay-on-wye.
Thank you for your interest,
John and Anna Llewelyn Funnell
Amdanom ni
Llewelyn a’r teulu ~
Sefydlwyd yn 2004, rydym wedi mwynhau degawdau yn ein Siop Sioraidd yng nghanol hen dref farchnad hanesyddol Y Gelli Gandryll. Dechreuodd y cyfan pan oeddwn yn blentyn rhwng dau hen Ffermdy Cymreig cyfagos sef ein hen dŷ hir carreg a hen Fferm odro Sioraidd Mamgu a Thadcu.
Dylanwad naturiol, cartrefol fy Mam annwyl a’i chariad at hen gelfi gloyw Cymreig, ei dawn i greu naws gynnes, werinol ag ansawdd cyfoethog a’i sylw cariadus at fanylder. Tyniad hen Ffermdy Mamgu wedyn, hen seld yn llawn llestri hudolus a chwpwrdd tŷ yn llawn llieiniau wedi,u smwddio’n ofalus ac yn gwynto fel sebon.
Byrddau’r gegin wedi eu sgwrio’n lân, eu coesau wedi eu paentio a hen gadeiriau cyfeillgar o’u cwmpas. Y pantri mawr hir gyda dwsinau o biseri enamel, dysglau pridd, poteli ffrwythau a thuniau pobi.
A thu allan, perllan hyfryd o goed afalau a gellyg, gardd o lysiau perffaith fy Nhadcu, gyda rhesi mawreddog o ffa dringo.
Yn nes ymlaen, gwyliau teulu yn darganfod Ewrop, fi a fy mrawd, dyna lwcus oeddem ni. Mami a finnau yn dwlu ar dai a thraddodiadau Ffrainc a Sgandinafia, dylanwadau a welir hyd heddiw yn ‘Llewelyn a’r teulu’
Bydd John, y plant a minnau wrth ein boddau yn crwydro’r cyfandir, yn dewis yn bersonol pob eitem â welir yma, pob lliw a gwead a phersawr a phob dodrefnyn, hen a newydd. Yr unig beth sy’n rhoi mwy o bleser I ni yw gweld ymateb ein cwsmeriaid wrth ddod trwy ddrws y siop. Helpu i greu cartrefi cysurus, deniadol ag elfennau hanesyddol yw ein dymuniad a’n braint.
Felly dewch I ymweld â ni yn Y Gelli, tref fwyaf ddymunol y Gororau.
